Sessions:

“Learning, Playing and Growing in English”

Two of the most important rules of successful language teaching for young learners appear to be the following:

1. Start them as young as possible.

2. Make each lesson as fun and as engaging as you can.

Nobody would argue with that but sometimes in our effort to make it fun and exciting we forget to make long-term pedagogical goals. Young learners, like everybody else, need a systematic and structured programme. English learned at pre-school level should be reinforced and developed at primary level one and so on and so forth.

This talk will look at approaches that ensure a steady progress in language levels at each new stage of learning as well as exploring ways to foster the cognitive, emotional, social and physical development of the children. Let’s make sure that they not only play but that they learn and grow in our English language classes as well.

“Teenagers, the 3P’s and the 4 C’s!”

Remember the three P’s – Present, Practice and Produce? Heard of the four C’s – Communication, Collaboration, Critical thinking and Creativity?

While most courses emphasize the first two P’s, we will be concentrating on getting students to produce language in this talk. We will look at an integrated skills approach while focusing on productive, exam skills: writing and speaking.

We will also give consideration to the so-called ‘Twenty First Century skills’ by including a look at how communicative and collaborative skills are developed in Pearson’s courses for teenagers. In other words, we will explore the importance of the third P and the first two C’s for preparing our teenagers not only for the exam but for their future careers!

Conference participants will receive:

– Certificate of attendance

– Teacher’s resource pack

We are looking forward to meeting you!
