16:30-17:45 – Claire Egmore, Annabel Marriott. “Discovering the World through English”:

“We know that student engagement and an enjoyable class environment are crucial to successful learning. But it’s also true that in our increasingly competitive world and intense focus on targets and exam scores it’s not always easy to create engaging, motivating lessons that also thoroughly prepare teenagers to achieve good results. So how can we achieve this balance and start to reignite our students’ natural curiosity and love of learning? At the same time, how can we encourage them to broaden their minds and learn more about the world around them through English?

In this session you will see examples of material from our new secondary course, Eyes Open, with a particular focus on how video can be exploited for enjoyable lessons that are also easy to prepare”.
