Seminar topic:

In a world of ever-increasing time pressure and accountability, we are all measured on results and efficiency — and language teaching and learning is no different.

This talk will look at ways in which progress and outcomes can be meaningfully measured through the use of course materials and impact studies (which involve a variety of language tests at the start, middle, and end of a course, as well as questionnaires for teachers and students), and what might then be done with the findings in order to improve both learning outcomes and learning materials.

Speaker:

Chris Jory has worked in ELT since 1990 as a teacher, trainer, director of studies, editor, and publisher. He is part of the ELT Adult team at Cambridge University Press, working on courses including Cambridge English Empower. He has taught adults in Brazil, Venezuela, Spain, Italy, Greece, and the UK, and has worked as an oral examiner for the Cambridge English main suite exams.
